Meet The Gulf Coast Biologics Team
We are proud to be a diverse, global team united by values including openness, positivity, and drive that stems from our founders. No matter how much our teams grow, we still feel like family.
The Gulf Coast Biologics Training & Education Center was launched in an effort to establish and standardize evidence based clinically scientific treatment methodology and to educate and train practitioners on the best use and application of regenerative autologous biologics. The custom built educational center is an independent state-of-the-art training facility where attendees can learn, collaborate and fellowship in a vibrant, elegant and modern environment.
The courses are carefully structured to help practitioners better understand the enormous benefits of regenerative medicine and its life changing impact on patient outcomes. The courses are presented in collaboration with Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center, Center for Continuing Medical Education (CCME) to provide Educational CME certified activities for its attendees.
Peter Everts, PhD, FRSM
Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Peter Everts started his career in regenerative medicine as a clinical perfusionist in the Netherlands in 1981, moving into the orthopedic surgery and cardiac surgical arena in 1989. Dedicated to providing scientific and evidenced based outcomes, he developed the first European department of Peri-Operative Blood Management. The main focus was the application of regenerative and autologous biological cell therapies to stimulate natural wound healing, avoid infections in general, cardiac, orthopedic, plastic reconstructive, spinal surgical procedures, and chronic complex wounds.
His research and clinical biological therapies ultimately contributed to his PhD in 2007 from the University of Utrecht Medical School, while defending his research titled: “Autologous Platelet Growth Factors: Autologous platelet-leukocyte enriched gel. Basics and Efficacy.” (ISBN 13: 978-90-8590-016-0). He has published over 60 peer reviewed articles, book chapters on platelet-rich plasma therapies, bone marrow and adipose cellular therapies. Peter brings a positive, enthusiastic, and practical approach to learning regenerative medicine treatment options, from an evidence based perspective.
In his spare time, Peter enjoys working with his German Shepherd’s and Wolfdog, and playing a round of golf or pickle ball.
Marcia James, RN, CCRN
Marcia James, Clinical Director of Gulf Coast Biologics, is a graduate from State University of New York, (BMCC) in (1987) with an associate’s degree in nursing. She continued her education obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Rochville University, graduating Cum Laude in 2004. She is certified in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and Esthetics Medicine and is a licensed registered nurse (RN) and critical care nurse (CCRN). Upon graduation, Marcia spearheaded her first team project at Montefiore Hospital in Bronx, New York, where she assisted in the establishment of the first-ever Aids Unit (K-5) for patients dying of aids. Her team researched the prevention of HIV and aids and collaborated with a Russian medical team on the advancement of aids research while organizing and launching the world’s first Aids Day (World AIDS Day).
For over a decade, Marcia managed a 22-bed intensive care unit at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) in Tampa, Florida. After previously suffering from a chronic shoulder injury resolved by platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, Marcia was inspired to pursue and advance her career in the field of PRP. Marcia’s positive experience resulted in her being able to continue her practice in the medical field. Marcia’s background has provided her with the critical thinking skills needed to address the clinically holistic requirements of regenerative medicine.
Ewa joined the Gulf Coast Biologics team as a Clinical Support Specialist, inspired to transform patients lives through science. Ewa works closely with many physicians to analyze their needs and recommend appropriate training and services to help grow their regenerative medical practice. Ewa helps by providing detailed guidance, insights and direction on clinical practices, variations in practice, safety-related concerns, patient care processes and outcomes. When Ewa isn’t getting hands-on in the training room, she offers account management as well as remote assistance to physicians, ensuring methods and applications are properly understood and used.
Ewa enjoys working with people and providing insightful and honest product information to interested consumers. Ewa gives a positive and proactive approach to solving complex and/or unusual clinical and technical problems. Ewa holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences. She has traveled extensively to many parts of the world and is fluent in Polish, Russian and English.
