Dr. Michael Meng, DC, RMSK, ARNP, FNP-BC, FIAAM

Dr. Michael Meng came into Musculoskeletal Ultrasound shortly upon graduation from Chiropractic School, in 2003. While employed at Southern California’s largest Rheumatology practice, he quickly took a deep dive into musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnostic purposes. Over time he became an independent contractor providing ultrasound and ultrasound guided services to numerous clinics of multiple specialties. Dr. Meng has been privileged to perform ultrasound services for the United States Olympic Committee, Santa Monica Orthopedic and Sports Medicine, Anatara Medical, Bio Reset Medical, and the Orthohealing Institute. 

Dr. Meng has contributed to multiple ultrasound textbooks with subjects ranging from diagnostics, pathologies, and interventions. Overall, he has been involved in the teaching of MSK ultrasound for 15 years and has more than 10 years of experience in regenerative medicine and ultrasound guided injections.

Meet the Faculty

Dr. Peter Everts, PHD, FRSM

Chief Scientific Officer & Program Director 

Dr. Peter Everts started his career in regenerative medicine as a clinical perfusionist in the Netherlands in 1981, moving into the orthopedic surgery and cardiac surgical arena in 1989. Dedicated to providing scientific and evidenced based outcomes, he developed the first European department of Peri-Operative Blood Management. The main focus was the application of regenerative and autologous biological cell therapies to stimulate natural wound healing, avoid infections in general, cardiac, orthopedic, plastic reconstructive, spinal surgical procedures, and chronic complex wounds.

His research and clinical biological therapies ultimately contributed to his PhD in 2007 from the University of Utrecht Medical School, while defending his research titled: “Autologous Platelet Growth Factors: Autologous platelet-leukocyte enriched gel. Basics and Efficacy.” (ISBN 13: 978-90-8590-016-0). He has published over 60 peer reviewed articles, book chapters on platelet-rich plasma therapies, bone marrow and adipose cellular therapies. Peter brings a positive, enthusiastic, and practical approach to learning regenerative medicine treatment options, from an evidence based perspective.

In his spare time, Peter enjoys working with his German Shepherd’s and Wolfdog, and playing a round of golf or pickle ball.

Ewa Profiruk

Clinical Support Specialist

Ewa Profiruk provides clinical support for the EmCyte product line, ensuring its highest efficacy and successful clinical outcomes. She conducts training sessions for healthcare professionals on how to prepare autologous biologics products for regenerative treatments, offering continuous guidance and education while prioritizing patient care. For Gulf Coast Biologics, Ewa delivers product demonstrations and training sessions, showcasing the benefits and features of the products offered.

Ewa holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences. Her extensive educational background and expertise contribute significantly to her role in providing comprehensive support and training to healthcare professionals.

As a world traveler, Ewa is fluent in Polish, Russian, and English, allowing her to effectively communicate and connect with clients and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

Leslie Aja, RDMS, RVT, RMSKS

Clinical Ultrasound Educator

Leslie Aja is an expert diagnostic sonographer who creates curriculum and provides training for Musculoskeletal (MSK) sonography. Leslie trains in-house EmCyte staff and outside clinicians to utilize MSK ultrasound guided injections for regenerative medicine including treatments using plasma-rich platelets (PRP). She also contributes to conference and course development for Gulf Coast Biologics.

With nearly two decades of experience, Leslie holds multiple credentials and enjoys showcasing her expertise in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Vascular, and MSK ultrasound. Beyond clinical practice, Leslie plays a key role as an ARDMS registry item writer and reviewer, shaping exams for sonographers and physicians. She also volunteers her time across the globe with Rad Aid International, where she serves as a volunteer sonography educator and program manager for Liberia, West Africa.

Heidi Colombo

Clinical Nurse Educator

Heidi Colombo is focused on successful patient outcomes and the clinical support needed to educate and train practitioners. She supports both the products and the process. Heidi also works to onboard new customers, providing product demonstrations, and keeping the EmCyte client base up-to-date regarding the ever-evolving regenerative biologic treatment options.

Heidi is a highly experienced surgical scrub nurse with specialization in joint orthopedic surgery. Having spent more than 20 years as a Registered Nurse, she brings a wealth of operating room knowledge to the team. Heidi has a BS in Nursing and is a world traveler who speaks English, Italian, and Filipino.
