GULF COAST BIOLOGICS
MSK Ultrasound Guided Injection Training Course
Earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ TBD towards your continuing medical education with this hands-on training course. The first day is led by Michael Meng, DC, RMSK, ARNP, FNP-BC, FIAAM and focuses on visually guided ultrasound injections, normal anatomy and common pathologies conditions for the knee, hip, and shoulder joints. Hands-on practice will be conducted with live models.
Day two starts out with a hands-on ultrasound guided injection workshop.
The bone marrow training kicks off with an Introduction to Bone Marrow Aspiration. Following the lecture attendees will participate in the BMA cadaver lab. This is a hands-on workshop.
A pair of live demonstrations round out this intensive training course. First a live preparation and validation of Platelet-Rich Plasma will be conducted. The second demonstration has that PRP administered to the live patient via ultrasound guided injection.
Don’t miss this opportunity for valuable hands-on training and expert instruction!
September Course
Time Remaining
Dr. Michael Meng came into Musculoskeletal Ultrasound shortly upon graduation from Chiropractic School, in 2003. While employed at Southern California’s largest Rheumatology practice, he quickly took a deep dive into musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnostic purposes. Over time he became an independent contractor providing ultrasound and ultrasound guided services to numerous clinics of multiple specialties. Dr. Meng has been privileged to perform ultrasound services for the United States Olympic Committee, Santa Monica Orthopedic and Sports Medicine, Anatara Medical, Bio Reset Medical, and the Orthohealing Institute.
Dr. Meng has contributed to multiple ultrasound textbooks with subjects ranging from diagnostics, pathologies, and interventions. Overall, he has been involved in the teaching of MSK ultrasound for 15 years and has more than 10 years of experience in regenerative medicine and ultrasound guided injections.
Hands-on training for Bone Marrow Aspiration of the Posterior Superior Iliac Spine workshop will be conducted on cadavers.
Peter Everts, Chief Scientific Officer, EmCyte and Program Director, Gulf Coast Biologics, specializes in research and scientific publications in regenerative orthobiologics. Peter will be giving a lecture on the Significance of Orthobiological Formulation
Dr. Irizarry-Román will be leading the bone marrow aspiration workshop. He will also be giving a lecture on patient care, pre and post injection, and optimizing patient outcomes.
Live product demonstration consisting of preparation and validation of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) biologic formulation. Live patient demonstration of ultrasound guided injection procedure.
Outline differences in autologous biological preparation validation results, emphasizing platelet dosing and bioformulations.
Develop proficiency in musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging techniques for precise visualization of anatomical structures relevant to regenerative medicine injections.
Learn the art of needle placement and trajectory adjustments under ultrasound guidance to optimize accuracy and efficacy of injections.
Practice injection techniques for common anatomical regions and pathologies, such as tendons, ligaments, joints, and soft tissue structures.
Incorporate evidence-based practices and emerging technologies into injection therapies for improved patient outcomes and safety.
Participate in hands-on workshops and live demonstrations to refine injection techniques under the guidance of experienced practitioners.
Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and communication skills to facilitate comprehensive patient care and multidisciplinary treatment approaches.
Assess the differences and potential of bone marrow aspiration methods as orthobiological injectates.
Discuss the principles and mechanisms of action behind various regenerative injection therapies, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and progenitor stem cell therapy.
Discuss strategies for patient positioning and probe manipulation to optimize ultrasound imaging and needle visualization during injections.
Analyze and interpret ultrasound findings to guide clinical decision-making and treatment planning in regenerative medicine injections.
Explore injection protocols and treatment algorithms tailored to specific musculoskeletal conditions, including tendonitis, osteoarthritis, ligament injuries, and more.
Review the latest technology in advanced autologous biologics, including clinical platelet-rich plasma, bone marrow aspirate and concentrate.
Identify sonoanatomy of shoulder, hip, and knee in live models.
Identify sonoanatomy of the PSIS for bone marrow aspiration in cadaver models.
